***URGENT PATIENT ANNOUNCEMENT***
We will be continuing with our telephone triage appointment system for those patients who require an appointment with the G.P until further notice. You will need to make yourself available to take that call throughout the morning or afternoon (whichever you have been allocated) as due to the high number of calls we are receiving, the G.P does not have the availability to attempt to call patients on multiple occasions. We appreciate this is very different than how we usually operate our appointment system, however we are in unusual circumstances so have needed to adapt our system to permit us to continue to have maximum appointments numbers available. We are now moving to only booking appointments with our nurses that are essential. If you require an appointment with our nursing team please contact the nurse reception to enquire what services we are still offering during this time. We are currently still offering blood tests to prevent our patients needing to attend TLC on a Wednesday weekly. These appointments will only be booked on the day you wish to attend and not in advance If you have any concerns over something you feel you need to discuss with the nursing team we will try and accommodate a telephone consultation with them. Those patients on Chronic disease registers who are due their annual review, we are looking to conduct interim telephone calls for this. Please DO NOT attend the surgery to book any appointments please call the surgery to do this. All the administration and clinical team at the surgery thank you for your support and understanding during this time. Stay at home to stop coronavirus spreading
Everyone must stay at home to help stop the spread of coronavirus. This includes people of all ages – even if you do not have any symptoms or other health conditions.
You can only leave your home:
- To shop for basic essentials – only when you really need to
- To do one form of exercise a day – such as a run, walk or cycle, alone or with other people you live with
- For any medical need – for example, to visit a pharmacy or deliver essential supplies to a vulnerable person
- To travel to and from work – but only where this is absolutely necessary
What to do if you have coronavirus symptoms
Continue to stay at home if you have either:
- A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Stay at home.

Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
Self-isolation and advice for household members
Individuals should stay at home (self-isolate) for 7 days from the onset of symptoms following the current advice. If someone has serious symptoms they cannot manage at home they should use NHS 111 online (people should only call NHS 111 if they cannot get online).
After 7 days of self-isolation, people who feel better and no longer have a high temperature can return to their normal routine. If they have not had any signs of improvement after 7 days and have not already sought medical advice, they should use NHS 111 online (people should only call NHS 111 if they cannot get online) before they leave their home or let visitors in.
If you live with someone who has symptoms, you'll need to stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person in the home started having symptoms
If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.
If you have to stay at home together, try to keep away from each other as much as possible.
ORDERING AND COLLECTING YOUR MEDICATION.
We are now asking all patients to register for electronic prescriptions. Which would mean your prescriptions would be sent directly to the pharmacy you have chosen. You can do this by contacting the pharmacy you choose and ask them to register you for this. If you are speaking to the practice for another matter you can also ask that we add this to your record, so this is in place for the next prescription that you order.
We also wanted to share ways in which prescriptions can be ordered at the practice for those who may have concerns about this. You can

2. Email your request to email@example.com
3. If you wish to still drop your repeat slip at the surgery we ask you do this once the practice has closed and push this through our letter box.
4. You may wish to speak to your local pharmacy as,they may offer a service where they can arrange to place your medication request on your behalf.
Important information regarding booking appointments via the online system.
We have been advised by NHS England to remove face to face appointments from our online booking system to assist with reducing the risks associated with coronavirus. We have removed the option to book any appointments via the online booking system in line with our need to screen patients prior to attending the practice. We hope to resume to online booking service in the future.
The NHS becoming ‘FAX FREE’ by March 2020
Following the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and a decision made by the Health and Social secretary earlier this year, there will be some changes to how you can contact us at the surgery.
We are therefore proactively asking all companies and other NHS providers to email us rather than send faxes. We are asking where possible you make this change with immediate effect. We are confident this will cause minimal disruption to services and that is why we ask you make the switch now, in advance of the complete end date for the use of faxes by our practice which is 27th March 2020.
We have 2 secure NHS.net email accounts. One specifically to be used for any prescription requests and one for general practice/patient enquires.

Please note these mail boxes are checked twice daily, and if your request is of an urgent nature you should please make this clear within the subject.
Beech Hill Medical Practice Flu Vaccine Programme
We have a new role at the practice.
We have employed a Clinical Pharmacist as part of our team. Our pharmacist will work directly with you, as part of the general practice team. To make sure your medicines help you get better and stay well. Seeing the pharmacist does not replace an appointment with the Doctor if this is required.
It may be more beneficial to have a consultation with the pharmacist if you require a medication review, or if you are experiencing side effects from your medicines. Over the coming weeks more information will follow.
We hope you will see this as a positive step for the practice as we do.

Citizens Advice Service
We have a service at the practice for any of our patients who are having money worries, benefit issues, job problems or struggling to pay bills. They are available on Wednesdays 9:00am - 5:00pm to offer support and advice. This is a walk-in service or alternatively you can book an appointment by contacting the practice.
Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.
Missed appointments at the practice
During the month of February 207 GP and Nurse appointments were wasted due to patients not attending. If you cannot attend an appointment it is vital that you let us know so we can offer it somebody who may really need it. #helpustohelpyou
Partners in Care
Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patient needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.
Our surgery is easily accessible to patients using a wheelchair. We also have three designated parking spaces in the car park and disabled access doors. Should you require the use of a wheelchair whilst you are in the surgery, please ask at reception and we will provide one for you during your visit.
